Thank you for joining Iowans for LIFE's Annual Fundraising Banquet 2016. What a beautiful and memorable evening it was!
This year's banquet was held on October 13th, 2016 at The Holiday Inn (near the airport). Iowans for Life keynote speaker, Tim Staples, Director of Apologetics and Evangelization at Catholic Answers, was both encouraging, inspiring, and of course enlightening.
Tim was raised a Southern Baptist, fell away from the faith, then returned during his late teen years through the witness of Christian televagelists.
Tim joined the Marine Corps. He converted to Catholicism in 1988 and spent the following six years in formation for the priesthood. Realizing that his calling was not to the priesthood, Tim left the seminary in 1994 and has been working in Catholic apologetics and evangelization ever since.
His talk titled: "Black and White in a World of Grey", showed us how our culture has taught us to be silent against the evils of this world. We have allowed the acceptance of abortion to creep in, even in the smallest amounts, into our churches and our faith. We as God's children can never agree with taking an innocent life no matter what. Even in the situation of a mother's life we never need to kill the child in her womb. Children can be brought into the world early by inducing the mother if she is at risk due to her pregnancy, but never is it necessary to take a life. We must fight for both the mother and child in every circumstance.
We thank you again for coming and supporting our great cause and hope to see you next year! Keep an eye out for our announcement of our next speaker.
