We have lost a pro-life champion; Nellie Gray, the founder and chief organizer of the March for Life in Washington DC died at age 88. Gray had ties to Iowans for LIFE founder Carolyn Thompson. As good friends, they served on the National Right to Life board in 1973. Gray left that year and started what would become an annual march for life event in January to mark the anniversary of the deadly Supreme Court decision Roe vs. Wade that legalized abortion in our country throughout all nine months of pregnancy. Carolyn Thompson, IFL founder and advisor to the board, stood on the podium with Ms. Gray at that very first march. Mrs. Thompson attended the march for several more years and helped in leading the way for IFL to offer bus trips to the march every year. "She’ll help us in heaven," Thompson said of Gray’s passing.
